As a contractor, my pricing is usually done on a bid price basis. Once I have met with a client and get an idea of the scope of their project, I can calculate the hours necessary to completion and arrive at a bid price. Most of the time I will require a portion of the price down on contract signing and at least one other payment during the course of the project. Final payment is due upon completion. Structuring payment this way helps my clients to spread the project cost over time and reduces the exposure of both the client and myself.

If my client prefers it, I can charge on an hourly basis. Current per hour charges for 2009 are $38.00 for off-site work and $53.00 for on-site work. Projects priced hourly are billed on a weekly basis. Project timesheets are kept and can be presented with invoicing on request.

If the project is web related, I will have the work posted on my site on the 'current projects' page. At any time my client can review all work done to date and measure my progress towards deadline. This also allows for small changes to be made in the site design while it is still easy to do so.

Major design changes that occur after initial design acceptance may require a restructured contract and an extended deadline.
